Sports have always been my classroom. From growing up on the softball field to competing at the Division I level, I’ve seen firsthand how athletics can build confidence, resilience, and leadership in young athletes. Through my work as The Positive Coach, I empower athletes, coaches, and teams to strengthen communication, self-awareness, and connection—both on and off the field.
With over 18 years of experience in coaching, education, and leadership development, I’ve dedicated my career to helping others grow through sport. My programs focus on building confidence in athletes, developing leadership skills through sports, and creating positive team cultures, helping athletes and coaches find balance, joy, and purpose every step of the way.

Sports are more than competition, they’re a place to discover who you are. I believe in coaching the whole athlete: the person behind the uniform. My work focuses on helping players:
As the Director of Coach Development at the Women’s Coaching Alliance (WCA), I design curriculum and lead programs that prepare, support, and inspire new coaches. In this role, I oversee the WCA Leadership Academies, where I train first-time coaches to build confidence, find their coaching voices, and create positive team cultures.
I teach best practices in coaching and guide coaches in building confidence in youth players, ensuring that athletes are supported both on and off the field. The WCA curriculum is rooted in leadership, communication, and social-emotional learning, helping coaches develop a toolbox of strategies and skills they can draw from throughout their coaching journeys and beyond.
I’m passionate about empowering people to lead through sport, especially girls and women. I believe leadership is everywhere in athletics: in how players encourage teammates, how coaches communicate with compassion, and how we respond to challenges on and off the field.
Through coaching, teaching, and mentorship, I strive to help athletes and coaches recognize their own leadership potential. When we build confidence and connection through sport, we don’t just create better players, we create stronger leaders, teammates, and communities.
As a Contributing Editor, I wrote a bi-monthly column called “Beyond the College Experience” and “The Positive Coach” from 2004 to 2017. Both columns focused on the real-life experiences of a Division I softball pitcher with the intent to inspire young female athletes by discussing the challenges and rewards associated with achieving their dreams through college athletics.
Whether you’re a coach, athlete, or parent, I’d love to help you bring more joy, connection, and confidence to your sport.
